As a keen observer of animal behavior and a former equine dentist who paid close attention to the poll area (where the head meets the neck) of horses, SleekEZ® creator Jennifer Tipton noticed that animals often scratch and groom themselves through motion of the poll. Animals clearly enjoy this sensation—horses, dogs, and cats frequently groom one another as a sign of affection. Inspired by this natural behavior, Jen designed a grooming tool with an oval handle that rolls smoothly in your palm, mimicking the soothing, affectionate motion animals love.
Our tools feature no sharp teeth or prickly tines that irritate the skin. Instead, SleekEZ’s patented grooming tools have a unique configuration of tiny teeth that rarely contact the skin—and when they do, it provides a pleasant scratch. Thanks to this ideal tooth pattern, our tools work on coats of all types—fine to thick, long to short (though they’re most effective on medium- and short-coated dogs)—quickly removing shedding hair, dirt, and dander. No Overnight Success
There’s no such thing as an “overnight success.” Though SleekEZ is a brilliantly simple tool, our story is one of relentless hard work. Jennifer Tipton started in her garage, crafting each tool by hand, working day and night—even through freezing Montana winters in an unheated space—just to fulfill a handful of orders daily. She handled everything herself: marketing, packaging, and shipping worldwide, even sending each overseas order with a personal touch. Along the way, she secured both U.S. utility and design patents—all without partners or borrowed money, just sheer determination.
Entrepreneurs often fail due to burnout—their tenacity can drive them to exhaustion. But it’s that very passion that fuels them. Jen’s journey reflects this: challenges kept her going, and her dedication built SleekEZ from the ground up.
